New service patterns.

Having worked through a trial of service patterns that is meaningful and sustainable, we have now ‘tweaked’ this and the final pattern of services for the foreseeable future is displayed in all the churches.  There are only minor adjustments from what we have used for the past year.  It has been really good to see people experimenting with worshipping in one another’s churches across the parish.  At the first PCC of the year we will plan out the ‘main’ festival times to ensure that the balance is right for everyone.

Week One:
9.00   Holy Communion at Bassingham
11.00  Holy Communion at Carlton le Moorland
4.00   Evening Worship at Norton Disney

Week Two:
9.00   Holy Communion at Thurlby
11.00  Holy Communion at Bassingham
4.00   Church4All (family non-Eucharist) worship

Week Three:
9.00   Holy Communion at Norton Disney
11.00  Morning Prayer at Bassingham
4.00   Evening Worship at Carlton le Moorland

Week Four:
9.00  Holy Communion at Aubourn
11.00  Holy Communion at Bassingham

Preparing for Easter – Saturday February 24th

A quiet morning for reflection in Lent.

Bassingham Church will be open for a quiet morning between 9.30 and 12.15 when you are invited to take time out and reflect individually and together on our walk with God.  There will be four reflections and then quiet time for our own thinking, reading, reflecting. The first session will be around 9.30; the second around 10.15; the third around 11.00 and the final session will be a short act of shared worship, Taizé style around 12.

The morning will end around 12.30 when a ‘Bring and Share’ lunch will be available and for those who wish to donate, anything money offered at this lunch will be sent to Swaziland School Project.

House Group
The next meeting of the  House Group will be on Wednesday 28th February at 60 Lincoln Road, starting at 2.30pm. We shall be looking at ‘Give us this day our daily bread’ as we continue our studies on the Lord’s Prayer.  If you would like to join us you will be made very welcome. Please phone Cynthia on 788461 or Rona on 789256 to find out more or if you need a lift.

Women’s World Day of Prayer Service
Friday, March 2nd at 7 pm at Norton Disney Church

‘All God’s Creation is Very Good’

Please come and share with people from the Withamside Churches in this year’s friendly and informative service written by the women of Suriname.  ALL WELCOME.

An evening Bible Study Group
For those who prefer to meet in an evening there will be another House Group within the parish which will meet at the home of John and Elaine Linford, 11 Middlegate, Bassingham.  The first meeting will be on Tuesday March 6th from 7 until 9 pm.  The group will then meet fortnightly. This is open to all across the parish and if you need transport please speak to John, Elaine or Dee and we will sort something for you.  The first studies we are using are called ‘Meeting Jesus’ and will cover topics like ‘The surprising Jesus’, ‘the real Jesus’, ‘the story-telling teacher.’ Bible study notes called ‘Meeting Jesus’ will be provided.  This will be a time of meeting one another in faith, of worship, of sharing our thoughts on a particular passage and of sharing our prayer needs.  We look forward to welcoming you to this new way of journeying together in faith.

 Men’s Coffee Morning for March
Just a reminder that the next Men’s Coffee Morning will be on March 7th at Pennell’s Garden Centre from 10.30 onwards.  If anyone needs a lift please speak to Michael Freeman or ring him on 01522 788383.

Church Cleaning in Bassingham – A notice from John Rowland:

If you are able to help with this I have put a list at the back of church of the areas to clean. The date for the spring clean is March 10th.   If you are able to help that would be great. Please feel free to clean your bit at a date that is convenient if the 10th is no good – I’m away that weekend so will do my areas at another time.  The high-level areas are being done on the 9th; this  will leave bits on the pews etc. so makes sense to clean these areas after.   Thanks, in advance, for any help you might be able to give.

Tea and cakeMonthly coffee mornings on a Saturday

Join us on the first Saturday of each month as we meet over tea, coffee, cakes and even bacon butties on some occasions.  This is a lovely chance to catch up with friends and neighbours, browse the excellent collection of second hand books we now have for sale, perhaps win the raffle?
We are open from 10.30 until around 12.00

A warm welcome await all.  Please pop in and find friends old and new.
