Vocations Day

What is accredited ministry in the Church of England? How are people selected and trained for it? Is God nudging you towards some form of accredited ministry? Some of the answers are to be found at this year’s diocesan Vocations Day which takes place on Saturday 13th November from 10.30am to 3.30pm in St. Luke’s Church, Birchwood. Please have word with Nick if this is of interest to you.

Alison Jones

Alison wrote last week: “A very big thank you to you all for your warm and loving send-off for Angela and me - for your good wishes to us both, for the card and flowers, and for your generous gift of money.  I will use it to buy something to remember you all and the times we’ve shared together.  I look forward to seeing some of you at my licensing on 31st August, and hope that if any of you are visiting the east of Scotland then you’ll come and visit us – our address is 19 Ancrum Road, Dundee, DD2 2JL - it will be lovely to see you, though we can’t promise Dundee cake!”

Since then seven of us from the parish attended Alison’s licensing last Tuesday evening. There was a large crow of friends, parishioners and representatives of the wider diocese of Brechin. On the Wednesday morning we were able to visit Alison and Angela in their new home. With the money we collected they have now purchased a sideboard to remember us by. Please continue to remember them in your prayers.

The meeting will help the Appointments Secretaries to build a profile of the Diocese and will inform the process of selecting the right person to become our next bishop.
If you cannot attend the meeting but would like to make a contribution you may also write to the Secretary of the Vacancy in See Committee at the Diocesan office in Lincoln.
